Major Polaroid Collection to Stay Whole

Last summer, you had the chance to score some of Polaroid's collection. You won't be so lucky this time, though. 4,500 Polaroids that were due to be auctioned off individually have been salvaged as a group through the combined efforts of West Licht Photo Gallery in Vienna and the Impossible Project.

A portion of the collection will be on view at West Licht in the exhibition Polaroid (Im)possible - The Westlicht Collection from June 17-August 21, 2011. A small selection of the collection is viewable online (it's currently stored at the Musée de l'Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland).

Pier 24: Exclusive Photography Center

Everywhere Mag has a nice write up on San Francisco's own Pier 24. The gallery, owned by wealthy investment banker Andy Pilara, only allows 60 people to visit on any given day. Pilara, who pays for all expenses out of pocket, wants visitors to have an intimate experience while viewing the photography.
